Current Vacancy: Lidar Systems Engineer

Job Description

The Lidar Systems Engineer will be a critical part of our new product development and introduction team. You will focus on building, integrating, and testing our new QLM gas lidar cameras to understand exactly how they work and how to make them better in performance, more manufacturable, and lower cost. You will work closely with the QLM R&D, engineering, business, and manufacturing teams, and with our external technical community including university researchers and development partners.

Activities and Roles

    • Design and execute experiments to test the performance of QLM’s gas lidar camera systems
    • Work with QLM’s research team on new technology to optimise and advance our system performance and manufacturability
    • Perform system-level integration and testing of new designs for hardware, firmware, and software
    • Help create production test procedures to ensure all new systems work robustly in industrial environments
    • Support and collaborate with the entire QLM technical and business organisation including research, business development, manufacturing engineering, and production
    • Travel expected to be 5% of the time

Relevant Experience and Skills (we don’t expect you to have all of these, but they will help)

    • Strong experience with semiconductor lasers, fibre optics, cameras, and optical metrology
    • Experience with digital and analogue electronics systems including microcontrollers, high-speed and low-noise electronic signal processing, and motor drives
    • Skilled in software programming for modelling, instrument control, data analysis, and image processing
    • Familiarity with Python and Linux
    • Experience with product quality, reliability, and compliance with ISO 17025 and CE-marking
    • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
    • Scientific diligence and attention to detail
    • Advanced experimental degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent area
