QLM demos at PG&E with SoCalGas, CPUC, CARB, LANL, LBNL, NETL

On July 19-20, 2023, QLM conducted a two-day field demonstration held at the Pacific Gas & Electric Winters Gas Safety Academy, organized jointly with Allen Waxman of CH4IQ (Methane Imaging & Quantification), David Berry of Sustainable & Resilient Resources Roundtable (SRRR), Stan Bronson of Alliance for a Climate Resilient Earth (ACRE), and Erwin Villiger of LMI. This live controlled methane release demo focused on how QLM’s Quantum Gas Lidar could be applied to emissions detection & quantification in both natural gas distribution applications and for orphaned oil & gas wells. In attendance were PG&E staff, and guests from SoCalGas, National Energy Technology Lab, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Los Alamos National Lab, California Public Utilities Commission, and California Air Resources Board. Below are some images from the event, including QLM lidar imagery of quantified emissions ranging from 0.5-40 SCFH (~ 10-768 g/h, ~ 0.24-19 L/min) at distances of 10-50m.

Many thanks to all the organizers, guests and to PG&E for hosting the event!

Below are photos from the campaign and a few of the measurement results and images.
