QLM & SLB apply for EPA approval for Oil and Natural Gas Advanced Methane Technology Alternative Test Method
At the very end of last year, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released new rules on methane emissions from upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities. As part of the new regulations, the EPA for the first time allows continuous monitoring tech (like our lidar camera) to be used instead of - rather than in addition to - handheld technologies (like OGI or Method 21 analyzers). This is a big deal for operators, who want to streamline and scale up their methane monitoring in a cost-effective way. Now the first providers of continuous monitoring technology are submitting their devices for regulatory approval, so we can all enter a new era of effective methane leak detection and robust emissions measurement. And put a lid on methane. You can see the new tech being submitted here, including ours (look out for the word “continuous”): https://lnkd.in/eKRbq4Hy Once we’ve got approval, you can start phasing out your handhelds and only send crews when there’s something to fix.
