QLM Issued New US Patent No. 11,644,576
QLM patent US11,644,576 details how we use a spatial scanner in our diode lidar to build up methane images. By modulating the synchronisation between a Risley pair of rotating wedge prisms we produce a range of circular images with sizes from over 20 degrees to less than one degree. The large field-of-view enables QLM’s camera to rapidly scan over wide areas to locate areas of interest. And then, once a potential emission is detected, the small images let us zoom in to monitor that area both closely and repeatedly. This scan, focus, and double-check method ensures that we measure precisely where, when, and how much methane is being emitted without ever getting false alarms.
