PlumeBob SquarePants!
It’s PlumeBob SquarePants! We continue to be amazed at the variety of shapes plumes take on in different wind fields as seen by QLM’s gas imaging lidar. Interestingly, we saw this plume several times, and it took on a rectangular shape twice. Beyond the cool shapes, these examples are particularly illustrative of how the value of our solution isn’t just in the hardware – just as important are our analytics that transform 3D lidar gas density data into quantitative information about individual emitters. Here, the algorithm identifies the part of the plume that is relevant for emission rate quantification and 3D source localization of this individual source. This allows disentanglement of multiple (even closely-spaced) emission sources on a facility so that individual emitters can be identified and isolated, localized, quantified and most importantly, so that actions for each emitter can be prioritized according to emission rate, safety or other operational concerns.
