Plumes Behaving Badly! They Are Almost Never “Gaussian”...

This is another plume behaving badly! Here, as with the PotW a few weeks ago, we see the plume shifting around and pooling in low winds in the shadow of a large object, leading to crazy (and hardly Gaussian) shaped plumes. The new EPA rules apply equally to nice and not-so-nice plumes, both of which we can detect and accurately quantify. This plume was 100m from the QLM gas imaging lidar camera with a 5 kg/hr release rate. These images were captured during a measurement campaign with our partners at SLB at the TTU Oilfield Tech Center.
