Accurate Quantification of Very Small Leaks

The proposed EPA emissions rules released last week recommend methane emissions quantification sensitivity as low as 1.2kg/hr for continuous monitoring of some classes of oil & gas facilities. Further, such continuous monitoring technologies would need to operate 24/7 and measure and report emissions every 12 hours (which QLM’s lidar camera uniquely can since it uses a laser and doesn’t rely on passive illumination). The measured plumes below showcase the camera’s ability to detect and quantify emissions at or below the EPA’s proposed levels. These are measurements of controlled methane releases carried out with our partners at SLB recently at the Texas Tech U. Oilfield Technology Center in Lubbock.
